Damp Proofing

Damp Proofing picture

Damp proofing is a specific method employed to prevent moisture and dampness from traveling through walls and floors in a building. It typically involves the installation of a damp-proof course (DPC), which is a barrier made of materials like bitumen, rubberised compound, or plastic that is placed within the walls or beneath the floors during construction.

The DPC acts as a barrier, preventing ground moisture from seeping into the building's structure. On some occasions, water trapped in gutters also cause dampness by getting into the walls.

Damp proofing is crucial in preventing issues like rising or seaping damp, which can lead to damage to the building's structure and the growth of mold and mildew. It's an essential part of maintaining a dry and healthy indoor environment, especially in areas prone to moisture-related problems.

If you suspect rising damp or damp walls in your home, consult with us to assess and address the issue effectively. Visible notes will generally be damp patches or bubbling paint on the walls.
